St. Pat's Pub Crawl 2007

March 17, 2007

Okay, so it wasn't really a pub crawl, but it made a good title.

We started off heading to the Dubliner for dinner so Megan could order some Corned Beef and Cabbage. We had to pay a $10 cover fee, so we (Lisa and I) decided to have a beer while we waited for a table. Dinner was okay. Nothing too spectacular. Lisa picked up some weird guy witha large shamrock painted on his forhead. Seriously, can't take Lisa to any Irish pubs. She always manages to attract the weirdo's. (on a side note, MSN had a list of the top Irish pubs to visit and the Black Rose in Boston was #1 on the list. Lisa and I stopped by there during our Boston visit.)

So after leaving the Dubliner where they were playing such "Irish" songs as "Proud To Be An American" and "Ring of Fire", we headed off to find some dessert. We walked from the Dubliner, near Union Station, over to the Chinatown area. We stopped by a couple of places to check out dessert menus: Cafe Monocco, Gordon Birch, then McCormick and Smicks.

McCormick's had an acutal dessert tray for us to look at. That was the deciding factor. It looked really good. So we decided to stay there. While we were waiting, the Stoli girls came up to our table. They were handing out some freebies: shots, t-shirts and bracelets. They let us know that with each $5 Stoli drink we could get a raffle ticket for the raffle going on later in the evening.

So we ordered dessert. And then had 'after desert' drinks. So before we got a chance to order our drinks, one of the Stoli girls came back to give us an update that now Stoli was giving second drinks free. So we ordered our first drinks (Cranberry and Stoli for Lisa, Blue Lagoon for Megan and the chocolate martini for me.) So we got our drinks, but didn't get raffle tickets. So we, Lisa, asked the waitress to get the Stoli girls. We drank our first drinks. Lisa and I were about 1/2 way done with our drinks, Megan had completely finished hers, when the Stoli girl came. She let us know that Stoli was giving away second drinks free. So we ordered our second drinks. Meg got the same thing as the first time. And Lisa and I both got Cranberry and Stoli for our second drink.

So the raffle occured. The girls came back to our section to let us know. Lisa got up to see if we won, and we did! They actually let her choose whether she wanted the 1st place prize which was 4 tickets to a hockey game, or 2nd place prize, gift certificate to McCormicks. After checking with us, she took the $100 gift certificate. It was quite exciting. I said that must be the reason that I had to miss out on my trip to Austin (my flight was cancelled due to weather). Then a little later the Stoli girls came back and turns out that we won the 3rd place prize as well, a $50 gift certificate to McCormicks.

So, all in all it was a fairly good night. They took our picture, so I think it will be appearing on the Stoli site sometime soon. We've been checking the site, but haven't seen anything yet.
