Fairfax Chocolate Festival
February 4, 2007
Yesterday Megan and I drove down to Farifax, VA for the Chocolate Festival. I didn't take any pictures, because outside there wasn't really anything really worth taking pictures of. Then in the first place we went in, there really wasn't room to take pictures. It was wall to wall people. And the second place had decorated cakes, but I wasn't sure if I could take pictures in there.
there were a lot of options for chocolates and candies. In the first place, you went in and purchased 'pogs' then you traded the pogs for candy. I got some chocolate covered cherries, some truffles. there was a log to choose from. It was difficult to decide what to get. It was wall to wall people. It was hard to move with all the people there. Then we got in line to head up stairs. We stood in line for quite some time. but it was totally worth it. We got to go to the chocolate fountains. There were four different fountains: orange chocolate, milk choclolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate. It was really good. Megan got some fudge.
After leaving there we went over to where the cake decorating competition was being held. There were two catagories. One was amateur and the other was professional. the professional side was cakes like you'd see on the food network. the amateur ones were just everyday people entering. I want to see what it takes to enter, because I think I could do just as well as some of the entries. I was surprised at the size. there were only about a dozen cakes entered; that's both amature and professional together.
then we headed to the craft show. We ended up walking away with some dip mixes.
overall it was fun. I think next year we'll try and go a little earlier in the day.
