The National Book Festival

The National Book Festival was held down on the national mall. We headed downtown to check it out. Unfortunately we didn't get there early enough to get the free bag, but we did pick up some free reading mats from Target that can also be used for a checkers game (complete with pieces). We got enough to send to the nephew and a couple of his friends. It was kind of fun, but it might have been more fun with a kid. They had the magic school bus and charachters from other PBS shows. You could get your picture taken with the characters and put them into a little book to take home. For adults they had some author talks and author signings. I didn't actually know any of the authors they had this year, so that part wasn't too exciting.

After we finished walking around the book fair, we headed over to the WWII monument. It goes nicely with the other memorials in the area.
